still testing are they?  how long does that normally take. I had a look a few weeks back but didnt give it much of a chance really as a lot of my add ons werent compatible so I switched back.

Rik

Oh, it's officially out of beta, Baz, but I always take that with a pinch of salt and wait a while. I'll probably make the move next month, before 2.x becomes unsupported in December.

I've been using FF3 for a while now and it seems fine.

I waited until v3 came out of beta and I'm on 3.03 now.  Not run into any issues at all, apart from the theme I prefer not being compatible.

Firefox 3 is proving to be excellent; 3.03 now with 3.1 due shortly

You can over-ride the extension compatibility test with MR Tech Tools, I invariably do and extensions still work.

Mind you I am an Extensions Junkie, I have 23 installed at the moment  :-\

Of course you can have FF2 and FF3 installed together, just install in different folders

I've been using FF3 on my laptop with no problems, apart from the occasional annoyance of it refusing to start until it's updated itself.

I've been using it since the first beta, and can't say I've ever had a problem. It's great. ;D

Gary

Running great here, 3.03 has ironed out many bugs, no problems whatsoever and firefox 2 and its huge memory leak seems a dim memory now, the phishing filter on  it is great as well much better than version 2 :)

Same here, 3.03 no problems. :thumb:

Same here Baz you could back up your faves from firefox 2 and import them into firefox 3 but you should not have to, firefox 2 supports ends in December, it really is fine to run now :) the book mark issue could be because you have two different profiles, if you want to continue using FF you will need to update as I think December the 15th is cut off date for FF2 support and then no more patches, 3 is way better believe me.

You could just copy the bookmarks.htm file from your FF2 profile, and overwrite the same in your FF3 profile, Baz.

Sorry Gary, I thought you meant Import them with Bookmarks Manager, which can be slightly hit and miss.

Is the same type of bookmarks file used in FF3? In FF2 it was called bookmarks.html but in FF3 the bookmark backups are .json files which are JavaScript Object Notation files.

I only ask because at some time I copied my FF2 bookmarks.html to my new FF3 profile folder and it is sitting there there marked with the date I moved it over and does not seem to have been updated. Unfortunately I can't remember how I got my bookmarks across. Perhaps by some form of import?

Sorry not to be more helpful.

Hmm... I have 'bookmarks.html' in my FF3 profile, which has travelled all over the place, from my Sea Monkey profile on my Desktop machine, to my laptop, into FF2, then FF3, but now you mention it, JB, I've just checked my FF3 profile, and like yours, it's still there as it was months ago.  It seems, bookmarks in FF3 are stored in the places.sqlite file and bookmarks*.html files are only used for importing and exporting.  Sorry for the mis-information, Baz.

Thanks for that heads-up Simon.

I always wondered where they were stored.
