IIRC some did make it over here.

I thought I'd offer it as a suggestion as there are a number of these systems out there and IMHO they're just asking to break stuff as Windows moved on.

Cheers,
Paul.

Did anyone put one of those Sony "Rootkit" music (or any other big name copy-protected) CDs in the computer? I remember reading that if you try to remove one of those it broke the CD driver and your drive vanished.

Cheers,
Paul.

Could this be the article you were referring to?

I like the quote from Sony. People don't know any better so they won't care. He didn't phrase it quite like that, of course.

No, but that was what he was saying  ;)

Since when, I have had a dislike for Sony and their products, I was one of their greatest fans prior to this.

Yep... I used to be 100% Sony but I won't have their stuff in the house now. Not since one of their senior execs promised to stamp out media copying by firewalling it at your PC and ISP... and so on.

Since that day on 2000 I have not willingly bought a single Sony product.

I try to avoid Sony product professionally too. My cameras are all Cannon now and I've been buying Panasonic display panels at work. People at work also ask me which laptops they should buy and the answer always includes the words "whatever you do, don't buy Sony."

I must have boycotted tens of thousands of pounds of their stuff so far.

Cheers,
Paul.

I've heard that Vaios should be avoided anyway, Paul.
