Bloody computers;

My faithful Logitech Wireless Keyboard stopped working this morning, new batteries....nothing, mouse still works OK.

Reluctantly get out a new spare Typhoon Wireless keyboard / mouse .. set it up, keyboard works fine, mouse doesn't !!!!!

So I now have 2 wireless transmitters connected, the Logitech to work the mouse, the Typhoon to work the keyboard..grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr. ;D

Technology, who needs it?...

Oh and to top it all, my printer is showing low ink... ;D

That thought had crossed my mind Rik. ;)

I wonder why " brands " of wireless keyboards etc. don't interact with each other...too simple??

Get a wired keyboard. ;)

:iagree: Rik, I tried a wireless keyboard for a while but wasn't impressed, I've now gone back to a USB one. :)

I've never had anything but a wired keyboard and mouse.  Can't see the point of wireless, when you have to sit in front of the PC to use it anyway.  I have a black IBM keyboard, which I have had for something like 4 years, and a Kensington Optical Elite 5 button mouse, which has also given me no trouble.

In fairness, the now defunct Logitech Keyboard has worked flawlessly for 2 years and 10 months, in fact it is still under warranty from Medion, part of the 3 year warranty, as it came as part of standard equipment with my computer.

I may give them a bell on Tuesday. ;)

I used to hate a wireless desktop, but when you have fixed units, you can see the benefit.

It sounds like you were quite unlucky, In! :)

Steve

In,I dont know, but if the logitech mouse is PS2?? and the typhoon mouse is USB?? It would not work until xp installs/ enables the HID driver

Agreed Seb, it looks like " just one of those things "..not the end of the world, as I still have a wireless keyboard and mouse both functioning, albeit via two transmitters. ;)

Noreen

I can understand the use of a wireless mouse especially if there isn't much room for a cable to move about but what exactly is the point of a wireless keyboard if it's used in a permanent position?

Rik

I've never understood, tbh, Noreen. I prefer wires and PS2 connectors - much better if there's a problem at boot time.

Cuts down on the mass of cabling more than anything - I use wireless and love it

Steve

If you are using windows media player etc you can get away from the monitor and use the keyboard as a remote control

No doubt but I said "when it's used in a permanent position", Steve.

OK, an update, the Typhoon Wireless Keyboard and Mouse cost less than a tenner, I am well impressed with them, better, dare I say, than the Logitech ones.

Nice firm build quality, very useful " top row " programmable keys.

So anyone considering buying any Typhoon Products...go for it. ;)

Malc

I have a wired keyboard and mouse, wireless are a PITA.

Always recharging or needing new batteries, I tried once with a mouse, but soon reverted back.

You must have used the wrong wireless mouse/keyboard or more likely batteries Malc, my keyboard batteries last around 3 months, my mouse batteries around 6 weeks, all rechargeables, rated at 2500.

2 minutes to change them. ;)

Malc

still can't be bothered with it.

Dangerjunkie

A friend of mine has a wireless. I was flat-sitting for him and I remember him telling me that if the keyboard battery went that when I replaced it I might have to press the "connect" button on the receiver and then the KB as they can lose "sync" when the batteries fail. This is certainly true sometimes with my Logitech wireless mouse.

I assume you did this :)

Cheers,
Paul.

Indeed Paul, many times to no avail, sadly.

Thanks for your thoughts on the matter. ;)
