OpenReach to Increase Prices?

I read it as meaning the opposite! Quote: "...the prices it charges BT's competitors for wholesale [my emphasis] access to local exchanges..."

No doubt we'll find out in due course. If it meant they were forced to have a SLA, then I for one wouldn't mind paying a bit more. Pigs might fly of course..

As I read it though, Tac, it affects access to exchanges only. IDNet don't have that, their service comes from BT Wholesale, like other ISPs offering IPStream products.

Taken with the recent news that BT Wholesale is to be deregulated in areas where LLU is strong, the BT Openreach move to raise prices to LLU providers could be a double hit, especially remembering broadband only LLU is charged at just £1.30 per month. So you can imagine LLU providers being hit by increased retail price competition on one hand and an increased cost base on the other.

In reality giving Openreach better pricing is more likely to lead to improved last mile infrastructure, which is the limiting factor in achieving credible high speed broadband. Personally, I would entertain higher pricing if this were to be ring-fenced for fibre to cabinet investment.
