Connection Speed Dropped

Hi, A few days ago, my BT line went down, caused my download speed to drop and router was sync'ing at about 400kbps, not the usual 8100kbps. BT engineer came out, and has put up a new line from the pole to my house, and BT line went back up, phone is working. I'm currently sync'ing at 7680kbps, but noticed my download speed was very very slow.

My normal speed is 6.5Mbps, current ADSLGuide Speed tests show 128.6 Kbps. I loaded up the BT speedtest page, and have these results:

IP profile for your line is - 135 kbps - does this mean I am capped to 135kbps by BT?

Also, I'm on the Home Max plan, and have an allowance of 30Gb per month, the beginning of the month I downloaded a few Linux dvd's, which has sent my predicted monthly bandwidth to just over 30gb. Would this effect my download speed?

Does the 10 day BT training period from BT run continuously, (I've been on BT max for about 6 months), I'm wondering if my very poor BT line over the last couple of days has caused BT to set the limit to 135kbps.

I turned off the router over night, and have disconnected a few times but still the same.

Sounds as though the recent problems have caused Max to set you a low rate.
Trouble is it's quick to go down (hours), but slow to go back up - three days is the quoted figure.  So after three days of that, it should sort out a new rate for you.  Reboot your router once a day only to remind it - frequent disconnections can sometimes be taken as line problems and may keep your rate down.

The "training" is continuous, so Max will in theory keep your line rated at its best current speed, and your speed is not actually set in concrete after the ten days.

Amount downloaded will have no effect on your speed as IDNet do not shape or throttle traffic in any way.
