Glad we were all in the same boat, I turned my router off for 30mins originally that didn't work and then left it off for an nhour and still didn't work until I woke up again this morning! :(

I know it's illegal, but even when connection to neighbours's wireless, about 4 around me unsecured, none of them would connect either, so must have affected a lot of ISPs.

dlorde

My connection is now up and working after an overnight disconnection.

Many thanks to IDNet support, who, after I reported my disconnection to the report line last night, rang me back well after telephone support hours (around 11pm), to explain the situation and give me dialup details!

Exceptional !!

My connection went down at about 1915 last night, still down after a couple of hours so switched off and had an early night. Just fired up pc and I'm back on line,  Thanks Simon for the information/explanation/advice.   :thumb:

Take care of all your memories. For you cannot relive them.

I was one of the lucky one. My connection dropped at 19:16, but re-established almost immediately.

Me also, Rik, went off at 19:16 and back on again by 19:18 and no further problems.  ;)

It does make you wonder what BT are up to, Ray. The central is under the control/maintenance. On top of that to have a major failure at the Machester RAS which took out hundreds of dialling codes leaves you wondering whether they are neglecting the current network in favout of their work on WBC/21CN. :(

Ray

It does look like it , Rik, there seem to have been quite a few BT problems since the work started too much of a coincidence methinks.  ;)

Rik

My thoughts too, Ray, ever since the programme of work in Feb/March, we seem to be seeing cases of BT failures or unannounced work playing havoc with the service. Who'd be an ISP?

Not sure if it is significant or not, there were 4 BT/Openreach Vans queuing to get in to my village exchange this morning, usually see about one a week. ;)

That's certainly what it looks like, Rik. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure it's no easy task, but it just seems that they forget how many people it affects.

Rik

To them, Seb, it's just a technical problem to be dealt with - they don't see the people on the other end. I know that hundreds of IDNet customers were affected, and the same must be true of most/all IPStream ISPs.

If you read my post further up the post, I would guess that a lot of ISPs were affected, you might need a magnifying glass ;)

Information from status page of IDNet

"one of our Centrals had a brief outage earlier this evening (04/06) at approximately 19.20pm that is now fixed but has
left some customers with stale sessions. Powering-down the router/modem for about 30 minutes should fix it."

phew!!!!!!! I thought my new router had bust the internet

I have been on since before 7 PM this evening here in Stafford with no problems at all so far.  :fingers:

The thunder storm I have just beeing reading about over North Wales just may be heading my way judging by the look of the sky outside but if it's BT to blame maybe I can ignore the weather.  ;)
Regards,

Les.
