Hi,

never fear, not an unhappy customer :o)

I shall be moving into a new house with my girlfriend, we both have a current Idnet broadband package/account.  what i want to do is cancel both these account and start a new account in the new house.  what i want to know - and im sure this is in the T&Cs somewhere - how much notice is required to cancel an account, and also how long after notice is given does the cancellation happen?

hope that makes sense :o)

thanks,
Nath

Rik

30 days, Nath. Do you want to cancel, though, as you'll lose your email addresses by doing so?

Thanks for the reply.  So if i want to cancel on the 18th of June im running a bit behind schedule?

I dont use any of the idnet emails so that will be ok.

thanks,
Nath

You're required to give 30 days notice, however, I suggest you have a word with IDNet, I'm sure something could be worked out (0800 0267237).

Aha, Ill give them a bell, I feel confident they will be accomodating especially as i will be setting up a new account in the near future.

thanks,

just out of curiosity, if they were to enforce the 30 days, what would be the situation with regard to the people moving into my house? would they have to wait for that period to elapse before they could setup their own broadband, or would it be just an account thing rather than a broadband thing?

ta,
Nath

I suspect they'd just charge you for the remaining days, but IDNet aren't like most ISPs. ;)

Rik

It would, I imagine, just be an account thing. However, it might be more complex unless you gave a waiver to your right to service for that period, as otherwise it's possible that, legally, IDNet would have to keep the connection(s) alive for as long as you;d paid for them. Incidentally, if a new line(number) is being provided at the new house, it would be worth trying to do a simultaneous provide - for this you need a code from BT, known as a CSS or LORN code. Pass that to IDNet and they can do the rest for you.

thanks for the replies again :)

For the new house, i know the current people use toucan for phone and broadband, however i dont know who their line rental is with.  i believe they want to take their number with them.  So assuming that a new line is required, if i can get this CSS or LORN number and pass it to Idnet, would that mean that they would be able to get the broadband up and running quicker?

thanks,
Nath

Rik

They'd be able to do it the same day that the phone was enabled - but they do need five working days notice to achieve this.
