what's your internet security? most have good antispyware now, I used to use spywareblaster but found it slowed browsing down a bit, with a good HIPS system or a good AV which includes antispyware you should not need loads of apps using resources or possibly conflicting with active shields, myself I use Kaspersky 2009 and Superantispyware and have never found more that a few cookies, even then not that many as I set Firefox to network:cookie:behaviour value 1 (block third party cookies) now in FF3 as a setting in privacy thank goodness and also setting network prefetch next to false, or setting IE to allow all first party and allow all session cookies and block third party ones :) having two spyware apps one being active, one on demand should be enough really these days.
Damned, if you do damned if you don't

I have NOD32

64 bit XP
Super anti spyware
Spyware guard
Spyware blaster

Anything else you recommend?

You look quite safe with what you have, the only other very small free application that I use is RogueRemover, it uses hardly any resources and is a tiny application.

After the recommendations in the post I decided to try SuperAntispyware.  It has locked up my laptop twice in the last 10 minutes, it comes back eventually.

Anyone else finding this?

Rik

Not happening to me. Have you got anything else running which it might be conflicting with?

Only Avast Antivirus,  lockups only started when I installed this.  Will let it finish scan and will probably uninstall it.

Never had any problems with it, on 3 different computers.

I use AVG 8. on them, not Avast.

Not every program works well on every machine.  Maybe yours just doesn't like SAS.  :dunno:

I think you're right Simon,

It didn't find anything of great improtance anyway, only a few cookies.  You win some, you lose some I guess.

Must be machine specific as others have stated. I use Avast on several computers and swear by it. Never had a problem.
