Fixed IP address query

Is it necessary to set the Router with the fixed IP address provided by IDNet (and DNS too)?

Just wondered as I have just bought a new Router and it connected without my setting these.

(I realise that sort of answers the question but is it best to set them 'manually')

No, unless you have a good reason then it's best to let the router pick these up automatically from the ISP.
