I use POP3, so can't help, David.  I'm assuming you're using webmail?

I've just tried it here and it's as fast as anything. So all other sites are okay?

It could be DNS - try OpenDNS.

David

Just switched to lap top and all seems fine on this...... ???

Are you using the same DNS' on both?

It might be worth flushing the DNS resolver cache. Open a command prompt and type ipconfig /flushdns and hit enter. :)

Thanks Sebby,I have been trying to get a speedtest on Bt no luck so will try thias and thanks for using the lingo I just understand.I was going to try and turn router off for a while then reboot.
This one has gone the same way as the one next door, would his point to router?
My speeds have always been a little dissappointing really norm is around 2.5 and I did hope for faster speeds given my profile, anyway I dont want to get irritaing to you so will try this thanks again

Test1 comprises of Best Effort Test:  -provides background information.
IP profile for your line is - 5000 kbps
    DSL connection rate: 448 kbps(UP-STREAM)  5632 kbps(DOWN-STREAM)
Actual IP throughput achieved during the test was - 4215 kbps
Just turned off the router and the speed has returned which is a relief.also as you can see managed to get the speedtest which wouldnt run before,it did mention dns.
I havnt tried this on this machine as its vista and couldnt find the search box to flush, but will try on the desktop tomorrow although this may be solved  :fingers: :thnks:

Just tried Email and its instant so hopefully this has cured the problem  :thumb:

Glad to hear it. It could have just been a glitch, but do let us know if it happens again. :)

David

No problems here, David. Have you tried setting up one of the accounts in OE/Windows Mail to see if you can pick it up OK that way?

I was going to suggest using Windows Live Mail, I use it, once set up, it is all automatic. :thumb:

Well this is fine.Dont normally use it.will this stop all the signing in stuff, which can be vexatious at times,(don't know what that word means, but sounds good) ;D

It's generally much easier, and more efficient to use a mail client, David. I only ever use webmail if I need access via someone else's computer as both my domain mail and idnet.com email support auth-smtp for sending.

Same here. I can't see why only the webmail would be affected. I'd expert various sites to suffer the same. ???

Thanks In just trying to see how to set up the notification of received mail as it isn't showing at the moment so having to check manually..

Do you have a Hotmail/MSN/Live email address? If so, you'll need Windows Live Mail as Outlook Express support is ending soon, I believe. You can use it for other (non-Microsoft) addresses too, i.e. it will replace OE.
