I use the newer and much improved Windows Live Mail David, it is far better than OE. :thumb:

It will import OE settings etc. automatically.

Setting up the Hotmail (etc) account should be very simple.

To setup your IDNet account, you'll find the settings here (it's for OE, but it should be largely the same). :)

The settings are exactly the same Seb, just the interface is slightly different... ;)

It looks very much like Windows Mail on Vista from what I can see, which I must say is a big improvement over OE. :thumb:

From OE? Yep, Windows Live Mail can import everything over at the click of a button. :)

Out of interest, why are you using webmail if you've got it setup in OE?

If you have OE set up, it will transfer everything automatically David, it is a doddle, I was amazed how easy it was. :thumb:

A legacy from the book of "How to" published by tiscali circa 2004"this was the way I was told to do it and never questioned it.........have to exile myself again  ???

Im amazed at what it can do this is a real eye opener for me,Email just :thumb got interesting thanks again :thumb:

Im still having a good play around,and it notifies me as well.Im glad the other fault reemerged as It brought me to this I am really pleased  ;D ;D

I followed it a long time ago when I used Thunderbird on Linux for 6 months, then wanted to go back to Windows. I use Outlook in Windows, but it was necessary to get everything into Outlook Express, then import from within Outlook!

That would be OK if everything was in Local Folders on TB, Seb.  I have 14 separate accounts, all of which house the mail in different folders, so it would seem a bit like hard work to import everything, if I've understood correctly.

I think so, Simon. I suppose it depends whether you want to make a permanent switch or just try it out. If the latter, it's probably not worth the hassle.

Indeed.  I may have a dabble - but Windows Mail in Vista looks just like OE to me.  :)

It is basically just Outlook Express, but it looks a bit nicer, has a junk mail filter, and probably some other bits and pieces. :)

Yes, so I've just found out.  I'll be sticking with Thunderbird though, as it would be too much hassle to change.

Thunderbirds are go  ;D it such an easy program to use, setup,you can transfer accounts easily between machines and also you can have  seperate user accounts from the same windows logon. Its a breath of fresh air after MS outlook.
