My DSL has just started dropping and reconnecting...

Looking at the router I can see:

Uncancelled Echo:     37.1 dB     Suspicious - check phone filters and alarm
Impulse Noise Comp. Tones:    3    Suspicious - impulse noise detected

What does this mean ??

Thanks

Simon

No idea, but until someone who does comes along, have you tried rebooting the router?

What do the stats look like (noise margin, attenuation, etc)?

EvilPC

Current Rate:  3040 kbs   416 kbs
Max Rate:  3040 kbs   472 kbs
Current Connection:
Current Noise Margin:  15.0 dB   5.0 dB
Current Attenuation:  49.3 dB   31.5 dB
Current Output Power:  19.0 dBm   -3.2 dBm

looks like the dsl has been down since 2am until 7am, now connecting as above.
Last night before this I was connecting @ 4896

DSL Diagnostics show:

Downstream Rate Cap: 8128 kbps
Downstream Atten. at 300kHz: 45.0 dB

Uncancelled Echo: 38.6 dB Suspicious - check phone filters and alarm
VCXO Frequency Offset: 4.9 ppm Ok
Final Rx Gain: 28.3 dB Ok
Impulse Noise Comp. Tones: 0 Ok
Excessive Impulse Noise: 0 Ok
Impulse noise protection:  2.17
Delay of latency path:  16.00 ms

Any idea why this would suddenly happen ?

Try unplugging everything but the router, see what happens. It looks like the line has been flapping, as the target marget appears to have increased to 15db.

It does look like there's been some noise around that has caused the exchange to increase the target SNRM.

Line is up and down all the time..

Called BT as I'm getting a lot of noise on the line. They are coming to look at it Mon Am..
See what they say..

Sebby

Fingers crossed. If they can't find an obvious fault, they may swap you onto a new pair, which has worked wonders for others. :thumb:

BT came out this morning and replaced the cable from the pole to the house.
Now I'm connected @ 4896 and things seem fine !!
