Problem with Avatar

[Nerval]

Animated GIFs  uploaded to the forum as avatars do not seem to stay animated.
Is this a design feature, or did I do something wrong?

I tried that as imageshack went down and Rikbean recommended upping to the forum as an alternative.  Meanwhile, I've moved it to photobucket.

Well imageshack is back up now, so you can use that  though mine's still on Photobucket.com.
