what does this all mean ?

HI,
   I have just brought a new Drytek 2800g router. I have it set up but all the stats are very diffrent from my old Netgear. Can anyone tell me what all of this means please.  As i am not sure how my line is doing.

Well as far as i can tell the speed stats speak for themselves its just the other figuers which are a mystery to me now.

Most of the stuff is purely informational and you don't need to concern yourself about it.
The System Status section tells you
1) how long your router has been up for

The LAN (Local Area Network) status section tells you
1) the DNS servers you are using (translates a domain name e.g. bbc.co.uk to an IP address)
2) how much data has been transferred over your LAN (in packets)

The WAN (Wide Area Network) status section tells you
1) the IP address of the (IDNet) gateway you are connected to
2) your connection mode (PPPoA - this is correct for the UK)
3) some data transfer stats - amount of data and how active over a period + how long you've been continuously connected to your ISP

The ADSL information section tells you
1) yet more data transfer stats between you and your telephone exchange in both directions
2) some block error stats. You do actually have errors on your line, the great majority of which are corrected (all blocks carry extra information which allow for a certain amount of correction in case of data corruption). Just about 0.006% of your data contained uncorrectable errors (requiring a retransmit). This level of error, I would say, is not of concern.

Your ADSL Status section is interesting though.
1) it shows that you would appear to be on an Office product (by the 832kb/s upload sync rate)
2) your downstream sync rate is quite low at just over 3Mb/s considering your Signal to Noise Ratio margin is up at 15.5dB. I would have expected your downstream sync rate to be raised by the BRAS, thus causing the SNR to reduce down to around 6dB in order to increase your real download data rate. However, your loop attenuation (the resistance seen in the cabling between you and the exchange) is moderately high at 44.5dB. Maybe this is why the SNR is being kept high. Are you recently converted to ADSLMax? Are you still in your inital 10 day trainig period? If not, a quick word with Miriam might be in order to see what she thinks about those stats. It has been known for the BT system to get stuck with an artificially high SNR requirement.

Thanks for the info.  :) I called Idnet suport (not sure who i spoke to, was not Simon or Tim). They said i has to run a few BT speedtester results before  they could do anything. If the page ever works I will. I upgraded the firmware on my router and now the speeds are all over the place one test showed download of 2.9 and the a moment later when i ran the test again it showed 1.7. What is going on ?

At a first guess, I would plump for contention at your telephone exchange. Have you looked it up on the various exchange checkers? http://usertools.plus.net/exchanges will do nicely. There are many, many red exchanges these days (good old BT - their capacity for getting it wrong is endless). If yours is one of them, that could explain what you are seeing.

Personally, I'd set my alarm clock to 4am and do some tests then. It would pretty much rule out contention at the exchange level, and you should have more luck with the BT speedtester too.

The strange thing is my speed was steady at 2.3 before i did the firmware upgrade.  My exchange is red ,but i do shift work and quite often have to get up in the small hours and it never changed allways stuck at 2.3 whatever time i checked it.
