Hey All

Does anyone know of any software or online software that can analyze music and advise what the artist/song is? I know that media player etc can try to find information online, however the sound is part of .wmv file, any ideas on how to do this?

I suppose i could rip the sound out of the wmv and try again then, but have a feeling this won't lead to much. Have searched for the lyrics online and found nothing :(

To  my knowledge WMP matches the artist, title and album name data in the file against a database and doesn't actually identify the song from the music. As far as I know there is no service that does (other than one I hear of at a library up north where they have an answering machine you sing the song to and a team of people to match it manually...

What lyrics do you have? You never know if you post them you may get lucky here :)

Cheers,
Paul.

edit: fixed a typo

Isn't there a service called Shazam that you ring up, it "hears" the music, and apparently is accurate a good percentage of the time?

Yep - have a look  here

I remember reading about this. Given the problem that voice recognition has with my speaking voice, I'm not at all sure what it would make of my singing. :)

Hopefully you can just hold your phone to the radio when the song is on :)

Rik

I never listen to the radio, Paul, except Radio 3. :)

Hey

Thanks all, I will have a look at the sites mentioned. I don't think theres much point adding it on here, it's a fairly modern tune, (no offense) ;) I could add the video link on here, but the content would probably not be suitable, and no it's not po*n.

Thanks once again, will let u know how it goes
