New version 4.0 of SpywareBlaster available, I found the bottom Florida site quickest and it installs over the top of previous version. http://www.majorgeeks.com/SpywareBlaster_d2859.html

Strange Noreen, mine said to delete original version first, via Add / Remove. ???

On Wilders the guys from javacool recommend uninstalling 3.5 first, I don't use it anymore as I have active registry protection and my browser handles cookies, but its a great program ;D

I can only say that it was stated on another forum that it would install over the previous version and it did for me with no obvious problems. BTW I also noted this on the other forum which may be of interest to Firefox users.
QuoteIt looks good and the slow loading database for Firefox has been fixed.

This is what it comes up with for me;

1.) Open SpywareBlaster and press the "Disable All Protection" link under "Quick Tasks".
2.) Close SpywareBlaster.
3.) Go to Add/Remove Programs and uninstall the entry named "SpywareBlaster v3.5.1"
4.) Download the latest SpywareBlaster installer from the link above and run it.
5.) Enjoy the new version of SpywareBlaster!

Stranger, and stranger. ;)

I always like to uninstall software if possible before installing new versions Noreen thats just a personal preference, if they are incremental updates that's not so much an issue, good new to see they fixed the firefox issue, I'll have to be updating a few peoples pc's with that on now, but I'll give it a while to see if any bugs pop up and then update the program, not that these people ever check for updates on spywareblaster anyway ::)

thats what was quoted by javacool, the makers In, they said you could do it either way but a clean install was better

Thanks Gary, all done now, I did un-install the old version, all seems fine. ;) :thumb:

Noreen

I think that sometimes the makers want to be on the safe side. The same thing was said about the latest NOD32 but it turned out that it wasn't necessary especially as in that in case it allowed me to retain my settings.

I didn't save the SpywareBlaster upgrade but just ran it from the majorgeeks site, don't know if that made any difference. I didn't upgrade from within the actual program.

It very much looks like it makes no difference Noreen. ;)

It does Noreen, I was running the beta of it for a month of so, it scans my pc in about 12 mins instead of almost 20 with version 3

It's a vast improvement, and has improved detection as well, I just wish they would sort out the awful program icon for it :)
