Nod 32/Eset Security Suite  version 3.0.657 now available here for registered users.
Has anyone installed this yet, I think that I'm going to wait as I don't seem to have a problem with the previous version?

Yes, Noreen, I installed it earlier today with no problems so far, just installed it over my existing version.

I've just read this on another forum, don't know how true it is.
QuoteAfter updating to this new release, my CPU usage jumped to 95%-100%, and the ekrn.exe module of NOD32 is the culprit! ... So far the ESET site has not come up with a fix, but to use my PC I have had to disable NOD32 (my only antivirus program that I have been using).

There's a lot of folks having this same problem, so hopefully ESET will come up with something soon!

I had the same problem once with a Zone Alarm update. With Zone Alarm on, couldn't do a thing - CPU usage at an almost constant 100%. With Zone Alarm off, all fine. Plenty of peeps were having exactly the same problem, yet ZA were refusing to accept that there was a problem with the update.  >:D

I've seen people mention having this issue on the Wilders forum, Noreen but I've never seen it on either my main PC or my Laptop and I've been using NOD32/Eset Security Suite for nearly 2 years now. I sometimes wonder if these type of issues are actually down to NOD or some other software they are running that is conflicting with it.

Rik

On the Windows platform, Ray, there's a good chance it's a conflict.

Not sure if this has already been posted. Comodo update 3.0.23.364 http://www.wilderssecurity.com/showthread.php?t=210225

Rik

I've seen warnings it contains adware, Noreen. I was waiting for that debate to come to an opinion before posting about it.

I hadn't seen that, Rik.  :( I don't use Comodo at the moment.

Rik

Here's the post in the Comodo forum. The accusations centre on "Apart from providing another essential layer of protection, the toolbar also provides one-click access to news, search, shopping; a built in pop-up blocker; is compatible with all major browsers and can be separately uninstalled or disabled at any time after installation."

Looks as though you don't get it if you just update rather than uninstall and install.

Rik

That's how I read it, but I've seen no development of the story.

According to Kaspersky this toolbar relates to mywebsearch - a known adware company. Nod32 also flagged it as adware apparently.

BTW this update is "build 2923".

Sebby

Indeed it is. It seemed to have a fair few new features. I still can't get over how quick Foxit is compared with Adobe Reader!

I assume no problems, Sebby? I haven't installed it yet.

Did you install over the top of the existing version, Sebby?

Sebby

No problems at all. I opened Foxit, went to Help > Check for updates now then just added the Foxit update. :)

Baz

got the NOD update on friday and no probs for me.....so far

CCleaner update, I'm told that you can install over the top of existing version, haven't done it yet myself. http://www.ccleaner.com/

It does install over the top.
