I'm sure you're right. I had no problems with v7 on XP SP3, but now I'm running v8. :thumb:

Sebby, I presume by version 8 you are referring to the kaspersky release dated in the UK for the 1st July. If so did you install over version 7 and if so were there any issues with installation or transfer of license? I have found the english version8 @ mydigitallife.info but not installed it yet.

I am indeed. It has been released in other parts of the world, just not in the UK, so it is available off of Kaspersky's server. I uninstalled version 7 first, just to be on the safe side, and didn't save any of the data, including the license.

When I installed version 8 and put in my license key, it activated again and the license continued from where it left off. I assume it's a bit like activating Windows, whereby it can tell that you are installing on the same machine as previously.

KIS 2009/ version 8 scheduled for release in the UK 1st July is available here http://dnl-us7.kaspersky-labs.com/products/english/homeuser/kis2009/kis8.0.0.357en.exe I installed over the top of version 7 as suggested by kaspersky support article ID 1756 and all seems well. :)

A reliability and performance update is available for Windows Vista SP1-based computers

Update information
An update is available that will help improve the performance and reliability of Windows Vista. If you are not sure whether Windows Vista Service Pack 1 (SP1) is installed, see the "How do I find out whether I have Windows Vista SP1 installed?" section.

To install the correct version of this update, you must know whether your Windows Vista platform type is 32-bit or 64-bit. If you are not sure which platform type is installed, see the "How do I find out whether I'm running a 32-bit or 64-bit version of Windows Vista?"

I had two "important" Vista updates installed this morning. Didn't actually check what they were for. ::)

Rik

Well, the chances are we know what one of them is. :)

Adobe reader 9, alas with adobe.com and adobe air bundled, but easily uninstalled, still annoys me when you use multiple browsers and they don't give you a chance to just have the reader on its own

Thanks, Gary. Tbh, I find it so bloated now; I much prefer Foxit.

Bloat is getting more and more frequent Sebby :(

I will certainly be updating when I get home.  Thanks for the info, Noreen, although SeaMonkey would have told me about it, and given me the option to upgrade.  I only use Firefox on my laptop, as one of my SeaMonkey add-ons doesn't seem to work with Vista.

Nod32 V3 3.0669.0 released, bug fix

I wonder if that was the bug in it that forced me to uninstall Nod 32 a couple of days ago?

For some time Vista (Business) kept rebooting on its own at random.  No error messages, just blue-screen, then reboot.

Since uninstalling Nod, no problem.

Now on AVG 8.0.  ::)
