I've got to say, Vista SP2 is running pretty sweet on my mum's PC with the startup system restore point disabled and indexing tweaked (it was a clean install, btw).

Not sure - it was probably largely due to the fact that it was a clean install without all the millions of individual updates. But I will say that Vista SP2 seems closer to a decent OS.

It took me a week to download a 600mb iso around 9 years ago, that was with the connection running 24/7 with Screaming.net

349 mb for me on SP2. If after you decide you are happy with SP2 and do not wish to remove it, open a cmd window and type Compcln.exe then enter it will ask you if you want to keep the service pack, if you want to just hit the "y" and it will clean up all service pack install remnants, you can gain up to 800mb back.

I've just received the message about Vista SP2, think that I'll wait a little while. Several people on the American forum to which I belong have installed it, most appear to have no problems so far but a few do.

SP2 installed and working fine here Noreen

I just disabled all security so it would not boot with windows and the service pack took hardly any time once installed did a boot time defrag and re-enabled my av and firewall and all is good.

I see on Wilders that quite a lot of people (not everybody) are having problems with Vista SP2 and NOD32.

I wonder if Acronis TI v10 will work with it.
