Totally agree. Plus it genuinely is better than IE7.
It is Sebby if I do use it it is superor to IE7 in everyway, and its making my box safer by just having it in place.

I've just had an update on Vista which was published today - something to do with non-compatiable programmes but I wasn't bothered enough to actually read any more of what it was for!

Maybe it was the compatibility thingy update for IE8?

Lance

Nope, it was certainly vista specific and not ie8. I might look properly tomorrow!

There were problems with the original compatibility of legacy patch so this was just version 2

Baz

if you do  windows update and things dont work after, if you know what i mean, can you un install the updates or will a simple system restore work.

Rik

Either/or in most cases, Baz. Generally, there's a warning if you can't uninstall a patch.

is there??  ive never seen one of those :D shows how much notice I take

I was just wondering because I know that the wife and son will not have checked in a while on their laptops, both running vista.

Rik

I suppose it depends how you do updates, Baz. I do them manually and check the descriptions before accepting them. If you're on auto-updates, you might not see that information.

Baz

No I'm the same as you Rik manually but I just dont remember seeing any warnings  :dunno:

to be honest a lot of the descriptions just go over my head and I tend to install just the ones I think I need or that I know I have on my system.

Rik

They don't write it large, Baz, there's just a sentence which says words to the effect that 'this patch cannot be uninstalled...'.
