......that'll be why then

I just checked out of curiosity and I have 6 critical to get  :dunno: have had these for a while and I dont knoe what they are and dont want them. Example is one is for .NET framework, something about core services which I dont know what they are and one for IE8......yeah Im going to get that. So thats how I work what I need, probably the wrong way

Rik

You only need .NET if you're running any apps which use it, Baz. If you are, they soon complain, so you can always delete it, if it exists, and see what happens.

when you updated it showed the update in small blue blocks as it went along, not in a green pulsing line.

For anyone who uses the latest windows live messenger, there is an update to version 14.0.8089.726 which addresses vulnerabilities in Microsoft's Active Template Library. You can download it from here http://download.live.com/?sku=messenger or wait for the update to come your way in October, new version also has some other code fixes.

According to the Microsoft Security Response Center, Microsoft will issue five Security Bulletins on Tuesday, and it will host a webcast to address customer questions on the bulletin the following day. All five of the vulnerabilities are rated "Critical," and they all earned their rating through a remote code execution impact, meaning a hacker could potentially gain control of an infected machine. At least two of the five patches will require a restart.

The list of affected operating systems includes Windows 2000, Windows XP (x86 and x64), Windows Server 2003 (x86 and x64), Windows Vista (x86 and x64), and Windows Server 2008 (x86 and x64). There are no patches being released for Microsoft Office or Internet Explorer this month. There will be no patch this Tuesday for the IIS flaw disclosed earlier this week.

Just in case any one forgot the dreaded day yesterday  ::)

Thats what they do with their patches, Rik, but they wait for up to a year sometimes

 ;D

I shall be off to patch shortly. Life was easier, though, when there was just one machine to do.  :sigh:
