I can never understand that when MS issue updates its bad but when other software companies do it's because they are improving their software  >:D I'm always glad that MS keep ontop of any potential problems by issuing updates.  ;D

Not sure who intimated it was a bad thing? All software needs updating and securing as time goes by. (Cue song).

Just need to set aside some time on Friday to do our machines. I'm very short of time atm. Never use auto updates as experience has taught me to wait a day or two before committing.

Has anyone noticed that their machine is slow to load after the latest windows update (vista) updated both of mine and now they don't load unless I click the mouse

Den

Nothing has changed on either of mine  ;D

Rik

The dotnet framework update caused problems here too. It is a huge change to the registry as it removes a lot of the old version. A couple of reboots and a CCleaner runcured it.

A good reason to make sure that you installed the last mammoth set of updates >>> http://techtalk.pcpitstop.com/2010/10/14/iran-go-boom-mommie/?

And which government put that into play I wonder , smells like there are worries there will be a tit for tat hit back, or everyone needs to look vulnerable as part of the propaganda machine after it somehow hit the Iranian nuclear programme. When you consider it would take five to ten people to work on this virus for six months it makes you wonder! It was  particularly hard on Siemens computers as well, and was specifically written to attack Supervisory Control And Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems used to control and monitor industrial processes.  :eyebrow:

I've had 5 Windows 7 (Professional, 64 bit) updates this morning, requiring a reboot. Only 4 installed at first and I've not yet restarted to check that the 5th will install after I've done so.

I've found that KB2249857 (which I think is the one that fails) installs fine after a reboot.

I thought Firefox was perfect as opposed to IE8  >:D

Rik

The day a piece of software is perfect, Den, will be the day that software ceases to exist. ;)

They did turn that around and patch it in about a day and a half, which is pretty good Den  :) but as Rik says, no software is ever perfect, especially V1 of any new release, as I have learnt the hard way in the past, and that may be version 1 of version 4.0 or something similar, bugs abound around us.
