Firefox 20 sucks.

Buggy as hell. Easily the worst release I've come across in years. It's freezing, the downloads are hidden unless you click on the arrow top right (and incidentally, this was broken in the last release. I couldn't just clear the list I had to select all then tell it to remove all). I've lost my themes and on some sites it freaks out and when you try to open a new tab it opens a new instance of Firefox.

It's not great on OSX either, glad I only use it as an RSS reader.

Mozilla said they were removing themes. It is a mess, download manager works for me but you can get the old one back if you google it. Might be an idea to reset your profile until they get some patches out for this abomination of a release.

Only if you like browsing with 32 bit spyware  ;) Chrome is also now dropping webkit seems Chrome may one day be the new IE6 as Google defines the web the way it wants it, I'll give that a miss thanks.

Even Mrs Clive gave up on Firefox after using it for countless years.  She always berated me for using Avant which she thought was a silly browser.  Avant went crazy and I switched to Chrome and Mrs Clive was so impressed with the speed that she followed suit.  As for Google spying on us, I'm not that bothered.   :laugh:

It seems to work ok for me too.Only thing ive seen so far is the download manager, mine shows as a folder on the top right,when I click on it it changes to...well I cant actually work out what the image is  :)

Niall..when I open a new tab thats what I get but I use Tab Mix Plus so that may help for me.

Gary...when you said you can get the old one back did you mean the old download manager or Firefox itself.   There is of course http://www.oldapps.com/ for old software that you liked and worked.

If you use this or any other way to roll back would you loose any installed add ons etc. and bookmarks do you know.

You should not roll back the browser as there were some critical patches in FF20  You can get the old download manager back, by doing this.

1. Open Firefox and type about:config in the addressbar and press Enter. It'll confirm, click on I'll be careful, I promise! button.

2. Now type ToolkitUI in the Filter box and look for following boolean key:

browser.download.useToolkitUI

3. The entry "browser.download.useToolkitUI" would be set to false. Double-click on it or right-click on it and select "Toggle". It'll set its value to true.

4. That's it. Now you'll be able to enjoy the classic download manager in a separate window instead of the new one.

just got a firefox update and unless i missed it from the last one,this has a 'Firefox Health Report' where it sends data to Mozilla about your version of FF...I think.

Its on by default
Been like that since version 21, just turn it off if you want, you can view your own health report though on your local machine. 22 has enabled WebRTC as default as well.

how does WebRTC work is it only certain windows version, im still on XP

The health report is to make FF better so I hope some peeps leave it on, but im with you. WebRTC is on now for all versions except android, it enables real time communication (video and voice) though the browser with no add ons to other FF users and Chrome users etc, like webGL enables funky graphics in the browser by using your gpu directly.

It appears 23.0.1 does not allow you to add the drop down bookmark button onto any menu bars if you have the 'Menu Bar' showing showing which is very annoying :rant2:

That might be  a glitch in the update. You could try rebuilding your profile maybe. All in all to many updates for a Saturday  ;)
