Hi folks,

I recently moved and the god folks at IDNet were very helpful as I set an order up for a simultaneous switch over for ADSL and phone line on the 20th but they day came and nothing happened. Hmmm, I thought, so I called BT and they said there was a problem as the previous owners hadnt given them 5 days notice they were moving, although they told me their phone line had been switched over the day before elsewhere. But they did our phone the next day and said ADSL would take a few more days and talk to IDNet.

The DSL light on my router was green at this point, like a little beacon of hope but of course it wasnt ours and went out within a couple of days. Meanwhile, the good folks at CS (especially Miriam) have been responding to my crazed emails until today they have been told by BT Wholesale that they rejected the order last week as there was already DSL on the line, it is going to take 5 days to cease this and then will be another 5 days for a new connection! Is it me, or is this seem a bit excessive if the previous owners have already had their ADSL switched already? I know CS have been chasing them up for me left right and centre but is there anything else I can do so it doesnt take another 2 weeks!?!?! Hell my Nintendo Wii may have even arrived by then!

Ta,

Rik

Go here:

http://www.ofcom.org.uk/complain/internet/tagmarker/

and make a complaint about a marker being left on the line. TBH, I suspect you'll have it sorted before Ofcom do anything, but it's worth a try.

Cheers rikbean, it was me trying my luck on the adslguide boards as well but the assistance is greatfully received!

Ah this is really twisting my melon now, I called the BT Tag helpline from rikbeans link and was told there is an existing order going through on the line that was due to complete on 22nd Nov, but is currently just sat that with the engineers and they dont know why, and there is no current DSL on that line. So I think basically they have told IDNet that they need to cease the existing order and put a new one in next week!

I think Im going to have to call CS again in the morning and tell my tale of woe and no WoW again  :'(

I did wonder. ;) Sometimes, Andrew will intervene, but it tends to happen more with faulty checker database issues.

Meh, into week 3 now without broadband and BT Wholesale still havent told IDNet they have moved the existing ADSL off the line before we can sit and wait for a new order  :'(

I'm thinking at this rate will be lucky to have the whole mess sorted before Christmas.

Rik

My sympathies, I get withdrawal symptoms after a few hours. :( I hope things start to happen soon.

Oh how useless can BTW be??

I moved @16 months ago............I gave BT 3 weeks notice, ordered the line etc.

"Thank you for your order,it will be 5 weeks after your move before we can get your line fixed,we are busy"

5 Weeks ,so 8 weeks in all just to turn a line back on ::)

I do hope you have luck soon.

Rik

I can remember having to wait six months to get a line at our first house, and I had a priority on the provisioning! :(

Yeah I can't believe how much of a mess BT have made, if they were actually a customer facing company and you had any choice in the matter I would have told them to get stuffed a long time ago but alas that isn't the case. When I called that number off the link Rik sent me last week they seemed more concerned about where I had got the number from!

Anyhow, talked to IDNet CS again yesterday, BT had told them the line should be cleared yesterday and they would attempt to put in a new order again today! Hopefully that wont be any longer than 5 more days. . .

They're not keen on people knowing about Ofcom!

Good luck, I hope you're up and running soon.

/sigh, now its being cleared today so my order cant be submitted until tomorrow!  >:( It'll be 3 weeks on Monday with no broadband, and I'm really hacked off with BT.

Hooray! We are connected again! Thank you Miriam et al, I thought it was going to be a long weekend with no internets and no Wii (Damn you, PC World!!) but this is ace  :D  ;D  :D  ;D

Rik

I'm really pleased for you.  :) IDNet do go the extra mile for us, though we don't always see their activity. I once had an email from Simon at 4:34am, checking whether my connection problems had been resolved.
