doing a spot of reformatting, forgot to switch my ext HD off and have, I presume, managed to delete the directory. Note ... I didn't reformat it. Anyone know of any utility to restore it pls?????

Sebby

When you say you deleted the directory, what exactly is it that you did?

Decided to reinstall winxp on drive D
2 drives came up on format options. Eg; D and G(ext HD drive)
Hit G by mistake (complete dickhead!!) & it stated it had deleted the partition before I realised the error.
I obviously didn't continue with the format but have this feeling I've had it (game, set and match to the 'puter).
Message on clicking G drive now states that it's unformatted!!

Glenn

Hirens bootcd has some recovery tools on it http://www.hiren.info/pages/bootcd

Borrowed a copy of EASEUS data recovery wizard pro. Worked like a dream and simple instructions.

Lance

Glad you recovered the data! It, obviously, was all backed up anyway! :out:
