Is it a straight forward switch from the current payment method to DD and is it sorted by  IDNet ?

I don't think it could be done by IDNet, they'd need to send out mandate forms, or set them up over the phone. I could be wrong, but I'd be very uncomfortable if companies (and this is not a specific distrust of IDNet, whom I actually trust more than most) could set up a DD without my explicit involvement.

Just looked at Plusnet Portal, ( pass me a bucket ).  they do DD's over the net, so it can be done.

I did a DD for Crapnet over the net, so it can be done.
I actually also did a DD over the phone to a call centre in India for a credit card.
(I wonder how I'm managing to spend so much in Bombay )

Never saw a bit of paper for either and both worked OK.

Sky is a classic example of being able to set up a DD over the phone, but a number of organisations can now do it. Others still insist on sending out bits of paper, I'm curious as to whether it's their systems which require this, or the banks won't authorise them to do it... But then I'm always curious.
