Wireless is very easy, and you have a lot of people to help mess it up sort it out, so you have no worries, as you can see from the posts above. Just remember to use a safety net if you are not using wires, in case you fall  ;)
Damned, if you do damned if you don't

Sebby

Glad you got it, Diss. It certainly looks like a cool little device. :thumb:

Tina

Yes I would recommend it to anyone :)

Simon

Glad to hear you got the Laptop, Diss.  You should be well practised by the time you go away!  ;)

I am wireless :) well I think I am - I set it up and unplugged  the ethernet cable and it still works. The hardest bit was making it secure. I set it up as WPA as I've heard it's more secure the WEP. Works on my little lappy too, and when I click to connect it  says netgear and the  padlock next to it is locked, so presume it is secure.. so proud of my self.. i phone netgear support, but the poor lad didn't speak good English,  so I worked it out myself .. go me :)

Well done Diss :thumb:, Netgear has a notorious reputation for lack of support.

Glad you are all sorted. ;)

I can't stop smiling :) I know it's a little thing, but I've had so much hassle this week, and I did it on my own  :thumb:

Rik

Take pride in all you've achieved, it's been a difficult week but you've come out of it with a lot of bonuses.  :)

I maybe wrong, but pages seem to be loading faster?

Rik

It's always possible, Diss, you've probably got a different chipset in the new router.

while i like my little lappy and I'm still dreaming of an apple mac  laptop, but at £699 I'm am going to be waiting a very long time  :hehe:

Sebby

They've certainly got the look. I drool over anything Apple. ;)

Tina

oh me too. A friend and I went into an apple shop the other day so I could play lol .. better start saving. Do you have an apple then?

Sebby

Nope, I love my PC too much to make the switch, but I do like Apple stuff a lot... I feel they get the important things right. :)

Tina

yeah, I'm torn. I stared off on a linux machine ( was built free for me) then I wanted to be like my friends and have windows, so we did a partition on the linux and got windows ME. That went to computer heaven, and I got my first apple, a mac mini, and still got it :) It was a breath of fresh air, no virus's to worry about ( and yes I know you still have to be careful) BUT i could get a windows  laptop a lot cheaper. But these days I don't know what a good windows lap top is, (how much to spend, you can get one for £300)  and there is still the virus worry.. hmm

Sebby

A lot of the cheap laptops are decent, especially if it's something like an Acer. Sometimes they are a bit low on RAM, in which case it's worth adding a bit more yourself, but otherwise they are generally good. A free antivirus like AVG or Avast will do the trick. :)
