Hi all,

I've been having connection troubles for the past few nights. Normally have to restart my Speedtouch 585 a few times and hit the 'connect' button to get my connection back. If I check the Internet connection page it says "Connection could not be established: Disconnected because idle timeout reached". Anybody got any ideas what may be causing this?

Here are my modem stats:

Hi Derek.

Normally this would be caused by a setting in the router somewhere which says after x minutes of inactivity disconnect from the website. However, as you have only started getting the problem recently i would suggest first trying a factory reset of the router and if the problem persists making sure you have the most recent version of the firmware. If you still get the problem it seems likely that your router is on its way to heaven!

As for your line stats, they look fine. You have a decent sync for your attenuation, and the noise margin is perfect. In case you didn't know, your line has interleaving turned on (shown by the FEC errors).

I think your is SpeedTouch-related, Derek, rather than a line problem. If you're still running 6.1.4.3, this has an idle timeout bug, so it's worth upgrading.

You'll need to use the firmware upgrade wizard, which is on the CD that came with the router. :)
