Starting from cold!

Hi,

I will start by saying that I am very pleased with the performance of my 2700HGV... it is quite happy with it's four network connections (PC, printer, Skype box and 'HomeHub' connection), it's VoIP phone, which successfully makes and receives calls, and happily enables me to connect with both my laptop and mobile phone.

Now, partly in the interests of economy, I have got into the habit of switching off all my equipment, including my 2700HHV off at the mains every night and back on again the next morning.

Now the first thing to be 'switched on' each day is my 2700HGV, and I am somewhat surprised at the length of time it takes before I have two steady green 'Broadband' and 'Internet' lights on the device.... about 90 seconds overall.

Is this normal please?

Mine takes a similar amount of time, so nothing to worry about, or maybe mine suffers from the same problem

The two I've had take 90-120 seconds to cold boot.

We didn't guarantee the latter, but the router is fine.

The 2700 is a very slow router to boot, so it's nothing to be alarmed about. Thankfully, it's performance makes that worthwhile.

Mine's the same but I don't experience it all that often.

They are slow to boot up, buts thats from memory as I never turn mine off

On the odd occasion that I have its because my sync has dropped and I want to reset it (at the moment it syncs at 7615 and down loads at about 6.3mb

I just love the beast.

why turn it off

give it a separate elecricity supply and leave it on 24/7,as den said

Well... I suppose it COULD stay on all the time... but is there actually any downside to turning it off each night, at least from from a performance point of view?

I assume I am saving a small amount of electricity by doing so!

Switching it off each night is okay, but I prefer to leave it switched on 24/7/365.
