quick update if  you interested.

got switched earlier than expected on Friday  :thumb: :thumb:   speeds  stuck at about 1800kbps but this may have been due to last ISP putting me back on a fixed 2mb to try and fix the prob.  Saturday speed shot up to   Actual IP throughput achieved during the test was - 6735 kbps   then to     Actual IP throughput achieved during the test was - 6737 kbps  later on..........fastest Ive ever had  :) :) :) :)   then starting to drift back down to Actual IP throughput achieved during the test was - 4496 kbps today. is this normal.

looking better already though.

Rik

Can you do a BT test, Baz, and find out what your profile is?

Baz

Im on it Rik. the unfortunate drawbacks of having speed probs is I visit BT site a lot ;)

Mon 18th Aug at 4.15pm
Your DSL connection rate: 8128 kbps(DOWN-STREAM),  448 kbps(UP-STREAM)
IP profile for your line is - 7150 kbps
Actual IP throughput achieved during the test was - 4496 kbps

Rik

Given the speeds you have seen, that looks like exchange congestion. Can you get at the error count at all?

where will that be Rik

Rik

Enter this in the browser address bar:

http://192.168.0.1/setup.cgi?todo=debug

which should result in a screen which just says 'Debug enable'.
(That's assuming that you haven't changed the router's IP address from the default).

Then exit from the web interface and open a command-line window. Type:

telnet 192.168.0.1

You should get a BusyBox welcome message to confirm that your telnet connection is established.

Now type:

cat /proc/avalanche/avsar_modem_stats
