Can administrators read PMs?

Following a comment from Max, it seems that Moderators can't read our PMs on this forum.
Would somebody who knows pse say whether those further up in the hierarchy can?

I cannot read your PM's and seriously doubt anyone can.
The forums  i used were free and  nothing like the forums we see today (I'm going back a few years) .
To be honest i only use PM's  when i have been sent a PM, are you saying things in the PM's that would be embarrassing ?

But I do like to know who is reading what I write. 

I don't really think your approach of "If you're doing nothing wrong, you've nothing to fear" works.  That's what Blair says about ID Cards.

I'd hoped somebody who knew would answer. :laugh:

If somebody with appropriate access privileges  goes in with a suitable disk access program they can read anything they like...

but in general, access to private messages is usually restricted to top-level bbs administrators only. They have to have access in case of legal problems or abusive messages.

Just some clarification here;

There is no simple method to go in and read someone's PMs. However people with SQL access on the server could access the raw data, which while difficult and time consuming to interpret is possible.

People with SQL access may well be: IDNet Staff/Server Admins and myself (I am not aware of any other IDNetters admin/moderator with the SQL details).

For my part you can rest assured that I have no interest or time to go looking through such data. The only reason any such raw data may well be accessed is due to any legal requests for the data.

I also believe such private information is protected in our forum privacy policy, if it is not I will look into having such a clause added for users' piece of mind.

Likewise. On a hot summer afternoon with sewage flowing into the garden. Not the kind of thing I list as a pleasure... :(

What really got me was that it wasn't my blockage, but one caused by a neighbour. However, I lived down the hill and guess which way effluence flows...

Yuk! I know well how you felt.  Unfortunately it's a 2-3 times a year occurrence here.  When they built the bungalows in this road they didn't put the main sewer deep enough, so it doesn't take much to cause a problem.
After Dynarod I now pay for plumbing and drains insurance .... till they catch on!  ;)

I could have sworn Nerval said Dynarod in the title .........................  ::)

Me too.  :) It's about peace of mind as much as anything, but costs me less than one DynoRod callout. Actually, with qualified tradesmen becoming rarer than hen's teeth, I have the plumbing, including drains, the electrics and the central heating all covered.

Nerval changed the title from "DynoRod is the best drain unblocker" somewhere along the way, but he's being coy on it. ;) :out:
