Since I got back from holiday this morning, one site I visit regularly - http://www.toppy.org.uk - has not really been working. I found a post on the forum about some IP address changes. I just switched to OpenDNS and it's working fine, so it looks like IDNet's DNS' perhaps aren't propagating quickly enough.

Is anyone else having trouble with other sites?

Rik

I haven't had any problems till now, Seb, but that one is definitely not working. It would be worth an email to support.

Will do. If anyone else has trouble accessing any sites, try OpenDNS so we can see if there's something up with IDNet's DNS or whether this is an isolated case. :thumb:

There was someone having problems with www.neutrik.com (worrying name :)) on TB, but it worked for a couple of us.

That one works for me on IDNet's DNS, but of course if there was an issue with that site, it could just be fixed now.

Rik

Indeed, though the OP still had problems after I'd connected OK. I'm trying to find out which gateway he's on.

No problems here Seb, that Toppy site isn't working for me though.

No problems for me cos' I don't need to go to that Toppy site, I can't afford a Topfield. ;D

The preserve of the rich. :out: :duck:

You can get it for about £160 new these days. Of course, I paid quite a bit more back in July 2005, so it's been worth the money! ;)

And anyway, if you hadn't bought that Acer desktop that you didn't need... :out:

If you want something that's great out the box, get the Humax. If you want something that is pretty average out the box, but seriously powerful if you're prepared to have a bit of a mess about (patching firmware, adding applications known as "TAPs"), go for the Toppy. :)

Only trouble I've had recently is in Int Explorer, if I do a search using any search engine, in the results are some entries at the top sponsored links I think, if I try to load them I get the site not available screen, now I accept this may be the case for some, but not for all surely, is this linked to IDnet problems? or does anybody know a cure please ?

Ps   I am using OPEN DNS if this helps.

I see similar in firefox but always assumed it had something to do with ad blocking and I have never delved any further.May be completely wrong of course.

Just spotted this thread.

Another Toppy owner here and whilst I can get through on Sebby's liink to the main site, the fprum isn't working for me.

I'll keep trying.  It's probably a simple case of the forum being down for maintenance rather than anything more sinister.

In terms of the Humax vs Toppy discussion, I tried both for a week, but it was the EPG being readily available at switch on and the USB connectivity that won the day for me.
