Have sent msgs from various addresses to X@idnet.com and they're not being received.
Anyone else had any bother?
None here, Tac, I've had about 200 today on my IDNet addresses. PM me and I'll give you a couple to try.
I have one idnet.com address still in use and all messages to it from a variety of sources are taking between 20 minutes and 4 hours to arrive.
This problem first started sometime yesterday afternoon/evening.

Looks as though there is something wrong then - again. At this rate I foresee another departure :(
No problem here, just tried my 2 idnet.com addresses and messages were deliver back to me in less than a minute.
I'm not an expert at reading message headers, but can see nothing untoward in any of mine. It doesn't appear to be a grey-listing problem this time, as the headers in all messages say "domain auto-whitelisted by SQLgrey-1.6.8".
Fortunately I learnt my lesson last time and moved all urgent mail away from IDNet, but it's frustrating and disappointing none-the-less.
A quick check suggests that mail 'internal' to IDNet is not affected but mail from other domains is. I've raised it with support.
Same here just tested mine, all OK. I rarely use mine anyway.
I would agree Rik 20 minutes and still waiting from my external domain
Same here, Steve.

Same here, Rik, "internal ok" but mail from domain still waiting, was forgetting on my previous post that the Outlook "test mail" doesn't use your default mail addy to send, it uses the one you are testing.
That gets me regularly, Ray. ;)
Not only is mail down again but more importantly someone appears to have walked off with the Deja Vu smiley. :hide:
That smiley retired a while ago Ted....I think my mail is ok...I will send one and test it
You want :dv:
, Ted. :)
No Ted just sent one to myself from my googlemail and it got through and instant cc here
whoops hope I have not mislead you Ted.....
:dv: :thumb:
Interesting, David. I'm still waiting for a test from my domain at 30+ minutes, but I know the domain is sending OK from other recipients.
Im confused now......................sorry Ted I thought this smiley had gone :miss:

About 35mins from my domain and counting. I bet it doesn't last long ;)

My reply and cc took about 5 secs and it may have been quicker Im having to manually check mail
I'm at 45 and still waiting.
When we retire smileys, they are still available for use if you know the code - otherwise we'd have gaps in old posts. So, if you have a favourite, it's worth making a note of the code used.

Very cryptic, David. ;)

I sent a test mail to my idnet addy 3 hours and 20 minutes ago - still waiting for it to appear..... :thumbd:
I'm at 135 minutes and still waiting. :(
Test message sent to my IDNet address a few minutes ago, but I haven't received it yet...
Interesting - only my mail.com account seems to have been affected. All others received in seconds, from internal and external domains.
David reported no delays from Google, so I'm not sure what is happening, or not happening. :shake:

Certainly in view of past and current problems idnet.com addresses seem to be of little value.
Just sent a test from google to see if that makes any difference - my IDNet addy is an idnet.com if that makes any difference
It seems to be affecting anything on the idnet.com service, Mad. I don't know about the 'paid' services as I don't use them - we need Gary to check that.
On a serious note just sent another from x.com and instant reply and the other way...googlemail.com fine.idnet.com fine
Hope this helps no delays at all here people
It just adds to the puzzle, David. ???
Whenever have I made things simple Rik.......
If there is any other tests I can do let me know.........and no comments about a driving test either
TBH, I think we've done all we can from here, David. I alerted IDNet at 15:23, and until they respond, we are stuck with the problem. (And yes, I did phone in case the email didn't get through. :))
David is the chosen one.
Ah, but by whom? ;D :out:
At this moment I dont care..........................like Meg Ryan.....Ive got mail  :rofl2:
It will never happen again......something of mine works when evryone elses is not,its always the other way around :-*
Leave Meg Ryan out of this, or we'll all be having a Sally moment. :)

Me too.
Just received my 2 test messages sent from my domain mail to my idnet.com addresses took 3 hrs 23 mins to arrive.
Me too, 3 hours 33 minutes of delay.
yeah just got some too about 3 hours.
any idea what it was
140 mins from yahoo.co.uk account :bore: still waiting
No ideas, Baz, I've heard nothing back. Based on history, I'm guessing the boundary servers have been hit with an influx of spam and have ground to a halt. Why that keeps happening, assuming I'm right, I really don't know. :(

Why do these things always seem to happen on a weekend, when there is no support, though? :(
I wish I knew the answer, Mad. I would have hoped to have heard from them by now.

Sod's law, Mad, but in fairness, it does appear to have been fixed.
It does, Simon, I've just re-tested and domain to IDNet is as fast as normal.
Hoping this helps...serious update
Just recieved mail from Amazon and Ebay so all is well here, just keeping you up to date to let you know it has not affeted whatever Im on.
We often wonder what you're on, David. ;D :out:
God what would I be like if I were to be on anything :eek4: :eek4: :eek4:
Would we know?
I think we all should be on something after all the tension and high drama we suffered over the last few weeks. Never a dull moment ;D
 :rofl2: Would you believe Im a very quiet man and sometimes painfully shy
Glad the Mail seems to be getting back, wonder if it was something not related to the service rather an outside incident..not that I know what goes on ;D

Dont do that you can go blind ;)

Let your guard down there Rik :hehe:
Just for the record, mine came in at 19:01 around 3 and a half hours-ish. I think with hindsight. that's no more than a "blip" :thumb:
Blippin Hell Ted................................glad you have your mail back though...(are you it wasnt Rik,its been quiet and may have been a liitle bored
Until we hear from support, I would agree with Rik's guess that the problems were caused by an influx of spam. Fortunately, whilst inconvenient, it wasn't a massive delay. What i want to know is whether idnet have any plans on how they are going to deal with there spam influxes in the future. I would hope an extra server may be employed to spread the load a bit more.
My opinion on what has happened here and with the previous speed problems is that there is not enough communication from Idnet. Hopefully this is something they take on board and aim to improve.
I have to agree with you, Lance, on all counts.
So do I, even more so as I note that Simon_idnet was logged in to the Forum at around 5.00 pm and again at around 9.00 pm yesterday, yet failed to make any comment on the issue. ???
Sadly this is just not the same IDNet that it was say 12 months ago. :shake:
Hi Guys
We have failed to find any reason for the reported delays of yesterday afternoon. We could not replicate the problem and our logs showed no unusual levels of activity i.e. no spam floods yesterday.
We have seen that some of the big mail hosts: yahoo/google/msn (which also covers BT Internet etc) were slow in sending outbound mail yesterday. For example, on one of the tests that we did we found that Google took 14 minutes to forward a mail from their web server to their outbound SMTP server.
We have this morning found a phishing attack underway with the return address to one of our corporate customers. We have now placed filters to deal with this though.
regards
Simon
Thanks for the update, Simon. :thumb: Oddly, the one member unaffected yesterday tested with Google, certainly 1&1 was being hit, and the delays seemed to be within a few minutes of three and a half hours consistently for all of us.
Hi Simon,
For the record, the incoming mail I found most affected was from my US based mail.com account. Not sure what significance there is in that, if any.
I did note also yesterday an email I sent from my domain hosted by easily.co.uk took a long time to appear into my inbox at work but nowhere near as long as the one to mymail@idnet.com
all working fine now, thanks :thumb:
Funny, but e-mails from hotmail to google and my work addy (nothing to do with either) were working fine yesterday afternoon while the problem was showing - certainly no delay in them sending those e-mails.
