Title: Can't get any testers on speedtest_domain
Post by: rireed3 on Jan 18, 2007, 19:57:27
Hi all,

I've been trying some time to do an 'exchange speed test' the old way as the FAQ suggests:

- log the router into speedtest@speedtest_domain
- point the browser to http://217.32.105.42

This gets me the browser error "Page cannot be displayed".  I can get the Performance Tester on speedtest_domain, but of course it insists I log on to my ISP.  I can also get the old tester on IDNet using the above IP.

This means I can't test exchange-to-RAS congestion independent of IDNet.  My RAS host name is ERX12.Ilford4.

Anyone have any ideas about this?

Thanks,
Richard

Hi rireed3 welcome to the forums.

I seem to remember the old speedtest@speedtest_domain log in will not work for speed tests but does work if you are having ping issues (see my post in the gaming forum).
I'm sure someone will tell you how to do it before long.

Thanks for that idea, maxping.

I'm not a gamer, but if I understand correctly, just loading the Performance Tester front page from speedtest_domain has an effect on pings, maybe throughput?

Odd, but interesting.
