Title: 2700 with multiple ext ip addresses
Post by: g7pkf on Feb 01, 2009, 12:25:58
Has anyone set up a 2700 with multiple ip addresses?

I am trying with singtel firmware but everytime i try and set the netmask it defaults back to 255.255.255.255

I think i have the rest of the router "sussed" out and am going to assign 1 ip to a firewall and the other to a different firewall.

Settings idnet state:-

IP Address     91.XXX.XX.224 - 91.XXX.XX.227

as i say as soon as i try and put in a netmask other than 255.255.255.255 the router refuses to save it. if i use dhcp it again picks up 255.255.255.255

Settings in the router

Connection Type:     PPPoA
User Name:    XXXXX@idnet.gw5
IP Address Range:    91.XXX.XX.225
Subnet Mask:    255.255.255.255
Gateway:    212.69.63.55
Primary DNS:    208.67.222.222
Secondary DNS:    212.69.36.3

anyone any ideas? i am sure this worked prior to me moving my adsl to a different phone line.

Why isn't the Router set up to obtain them automatically ?

255.255.255.255 is the correct subnet mask for a fixed IP

yes but i "should" have 2 avalible fixed ip's 91.XXX.XX.225 and 91.XXX.XX.226 so 255.255.255.252 should be the correct range.

This is the 2wire documentation (http://support.2wire.com/index.php?page=view&article=126&text=multiple%20IP%20adresses&cat=&sort=) for setting up multiple broadband IP addresses, make sure you use the correct firmware options.

Let us know if you succeed  :thumb:

Thanks for the link.

Hmm had a quick go think i may need to reconfigure from scratch.

This is not a problem as i have a couple of spare 2700's and will use one of those.

will have a "play" tommorrow.

It does not seem to work with singtel firmware  or i may ahve the keycode wrong thats why its locking it down :(

5225-2374-WG62-22AS-BJ7P is the keycode i am using which is a fully manual one.

am also going to give support an email as i had this working prior to adsl line move, trouble is i tinker with routers a lot (collection of 12 now and another 2 on order)

will try with the sbc firmware tommorrow........will keep you all posted
