Title: YouSendIt
Post by: Noreen on Feb 18, 2009, 11:41:48
A friend in Canada has just used this program to send me a large file, seems to be a useful program. You can send up to 100MB with the free Lite account.  https://www.yousendit.com/cms/liteaccount

I wonder how many people would want the paid-for service? Useful link, thanks, Noreen. :karmic:

The only thing that worries me about these services is privacy. How do we know that our file really gets permanently deleted?

I have used sites like RapidShare in the past, and usually find pop ups a problem.  They have to generate an income from somewhere.

RapidShare is alright, but some of them seem quite dodgy to me as far as popups go!

The person who introduced me to the program is pretty good with computers, I don't think that they would use an "iffy" program. I did a google search for reviews and they seem to be good. There are also tutorials on YouTube such as this one http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PgXBPaF1-RA&feature=related I haven't watched any of the tutorials right through.

using a program like ADMuncher you can universally block all adds or some or whatever you want with its options on all browsers and IM clients and even email accounts, its just a small proxy program but I would not browse without it now, it lists the amount of bandwidth saved and images blocked, its quite scary, you can also stop sites changing the size of your browser window, I hate going to a site and finding my window shrunk for instance when I don't want it to be.

Looks a good program Noreen I was trying to send a large file to a friend so ill give it a whirl.  ;D

I've used Yousendit many times without problem, for large, must get there files i would recommend it.
But if you are worried about security, dont use the web at all, Royal Mail recorded del is safer, and that's not saying much :shake:

I certainly didn't get any pop-ups or other problems when downloading the file that was sent to me.

Having started using it a year or so ago now I cannot imagine not having it, and having the IP Scramble for proxy browsing is handy as well  :thumb: also blocking individual urls, I cannot stand those danasoft ones saying your ip and browser so I block receipt of that url completely

I forgot he uses them, I thought something was missing, I have blocked them as on another site I use everyone seems to have one, drives me mad, so no offence Baz  ;D

Not that I'm aware of.  The largest file I've sent over messenger is 160Mb.  It was the Fooze-UT movie ; aaah that brought back some memories. :)

I use AdMuncher too.  Excellent it is but it messes with the Tesco site somehow so that last time I lost my shopping that had taken ages to do, twice before I realised that it might be AdMuncher causing it and turned it off.  I think I've added it now to tell it to keep quiet on that site but I'm not sure I really understood the instructions so I shall probably just turn it off next shopping day, if I remember.
