Having finally got the 2700 up and running the SlingBox I have connected to the router will not connect as normal. It would appear that it is being blocked by the firewall within the router. Has anyone any ideas as to how I can get round this? :dunno:
Just to confirm, is the router firewall in addition to Windows firewall? If it is, can it be totally disabled without causing probs? How do I do this? :dunno:

It is in addition, Q, but I'd not recommend disabling it. Someone with a Slingbox will be along later, but I wonder whether the lack of UPnP means you need to do some manual port forwarding.
Correct Rik it uses UPNP you can manually forward the ports http://portforward.com/english/routers/port_forwarding/2wire/BT2700HG-V/SlingBox.htm
Not checked the details but should be o.k
Looks like its only one port 5001 TCP & UDP unless you've changed it

Yesterday I pointed Tripod (Bill) to our site and after he visited this thread he has today updated his comments about uPnP and V6 on Tripod ....

Steve, your link was spot on and I now have SlingBox up and running. Thanks to all for their input.
Never thought I would be dealing with 'port forwarding', TCP (thought it was for putting on stings), UDP (thought it was a political party!). We definitely learn some things on this forum! ;)

Its an excellent site for port forward instructions you may need to setup a few more if you come across other software/devices that utilize UPnP.
