Title: FEC Errors
Post by: Bill on Oct 06, 2009, 17:24:53
It would seem that 3Com don't expect a router to stay connected on a (slightly) poor line for too long... I've been watching the error counts go up and wondering what would happen when they got really high:

Interleaved Path FEC Correction   0   -2033592877

:eek4:

Yup, and treated as a DWORD not an UNSIGNED LONG, sloppy programming  :P

It would be nice to work out the error rate, but one bit of information the damn thing doesn't give is the uptime, and the last resync fell off the end of the log long ago  :(

Do what I do, Bill, keep a manual log. ;)

I'm too idle  :P

And I seldom need it tbh. I'll have to have a rootle around to see if I can persuade it to email the log periodically or something...
