I wonder which company is responsible for this? (http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/8364421.stm)
I was wondering that too, and my guess is Vodafone following some calls I got on my vodafone number.
I've not had any calls regarding my orange phone, but that has been out of contract for around 7 - 10 years now.
I had some calls from a firm called mobiles for you or something like that, who happened to know when both of my vodafone contracts I had were up. The only way they could have got that data is from vodafone, especially as one was brought through vodafone themselves.
Like you, Lance, I thought Vodafone. Time will tell.
Steady! remember the law of libel
I merely thought Vodafone, I didn't accuse them of anything. ;D
I only guessed :)
My first thought was the number between 2 & 4 ;D
Inside info?
Naah, it's his inside leg measurement. ;D :out:
Cubits?
Egyptian, Roman or Greek cubit?
Egyptian.
Only around 2 cubits and a few digits ;D
Ah, but which digits? ;D
I'm more of a Polish ell
Another difference of the number between 4 & 2. ;)
QuoteSpokeswomen for Vodafone, Orange -- part of France Telecom -- and O2, owned by Spain's Telefonica said the allegations did not involve their companies.
A spokesman for 3 UK, owned by Hong Kong's Hutchison Whampoa , said he was checking the reports. Virgin Media declined to comment and no one was immediately available at T-Mobile UK, part of Deutsche Telekom.

The field is narrowing. :)
Now confirmed as T-Mobile: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/8364421.stm
Oh, you bugger, Lance, you beat me to it! :rant2:
QuoteFour of Britain's five national mobile phone operators said they were not under investigation. They are: Vodafone; 3 UK, owned by Hong Kong's Hutchison Whampoa; Orange, part of France Telecom; and O2, owned by Spain's Telefonica. A spokesman for T-Mobile, part of Deutsche Telekom, had no immediate comment.
Well, we're in the clear then. ;D
The police say they are collecting evidence as it's a clear breach of the data protection act - where is the prosecution of government officials that sell on data from the DVLA etc?
That's different, of course... ;D
It's, do as I say, not as I do.
More info here http://www.theregister.co.uk/2009/11/17/ico_mobile_data/ it seems that some staff have sold the details
Someone has to have organised this, I don't believe it happened casually.
