Since I have been using the 2000hgv I have had to replace the power pack twice and also had to replace my neighbours PSU as well. Is there something a miss with them or have I just been unlucky. To night mine packed in (two days after helping a friend and letting him have my spare 2700hgv). As luck would have it I knew someone who had a spare router so I have been able to borrow one untill I can source another. Whats the best source for purchasing one? ::)
I bought a couple from DigiDave (http://www.digidave.co.uk/jshop/product.php?xProd=357), Den, but not had to use them yet.
It does seem the psu is the weakest point of th router, but I've not had any problems so far.
Might be worth looking at something like this http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?ModuleNo=48517 if you've got a Maplin near you. Perhaps a bit over the top but it's rated at 5A so the 2A that the 2700 needs shouldn't stress it at all...

PSUs definitely seem a weak point in the 2700s, Den.
A look at the label on the bottom of my spare genuine 2Wire (made in China) 2700HGV PSU show that it is rated at 5.1 Volts and 3 Amps DC.
Since these fail with a 3 Amp rating, personally I would not buy a 2.5 A rated one.
The other important thing to look out for is that it is a regulated PSU especially if you get a nominal 5 Volt one.
The usually cheaper unregulated ones (if it is not stated my bet it is unregulated) means that the voltage output drops as the load current increases.
Said the other way round the Voltage stays pretty much constant at the 5 Volts up to rated load current and maybe a bit beyond with a regulated PSU.
In my mind this is the type of PSU the 2700HGV requires.
I bought a new BT 2wire 2700HGV, one week old and put on ebay because the guy is happy with the one he is using so did not require this one. With postage it cost £11.98 so I will keep the router (as a spare incase) and give the power pack to the guy whose spare PSU I pinched. ;D
