Title: Canon 8000f scanner
Post by: Den on Dec 22, 2009, 22:56:19
Help!  I have a Canon 8000f scanner but I had problems when I was running Vista and now I can not get it to run with Windows 7. I have deleted toolbox and tryed to install scangear (latest version) but nothing happens and I can't locate scangear and the driver seems to be the same one that I had with XP. Time for a new scanner maybe.  :dunno:

Yes I read through that last night but did not seem to apply in my case.  ::)

I have tried everything I can think of, uninstalled and reinstalled the driver, uninstalled the driver, turned off the computer and down loaded the driver from canon. Checked the settings in My Computer, but all to no avail, I'm stumped so if I can not sort it in the morning I am going to order a Epson V500 from Amazon and say good bye to Canon Scanners.   :o

Epson make good scanners, Den.

The trouble is Rik, the 8000f was Canon's top of the range so I want one that is as good if not better (Canon 8800f). I looked at the one below the Epson V500 and did not like the build quality so I just hope the V500 is better. I liked the Canon but it annoys me that I had problems with Vista and now W7, after all it's the manufacturers job to get the drivers right.

Look out for Microtek if you can find one, Den, excellent build quality and very sophisticated scanning software.

OK thats it I could not stop myself, I have just bought the Canon 8800f so now I can't wait to get started on my old negatives. Trouble is we have friends coming around for a meal tonight so it will have to stay in it's box until tomorrow.  :eyebrow:

Just set up the scanner and it works well. It came with Arcsoft Photostudio 5.5 which informs me that it should be upgraded to Version 6 to work with Windows 7  :eek4: I would have thought that the upgrade would be free as it came with the scanner but no, they want about $30, crooks.

Bundled software rarely includes upgrades, Den. :(
