My neice has a Belkin Router which was working fine until Talk Talk took over Tiscali.
When she tries to get an internet connection she gets the message Res:ieframe.dll/DNSerror.
I tried to help her over the phone as she lives in Wales.
She already had phoned Talk Talk and they gave her the usual instructions to reset router etc.
The thing I don't understand after much tweeking I told her to try her wireless connection and she got online first go.
She still has no ethernet connection, so could it be a faulty router or a faulty ethernet cable?. I'm stumped on this one.
Has she set the right DNS servers locally on her machine? Unless it is picking the servers up automatically then the local machine could have different dns servers for the LAN adapter connection, the wireless connection doesn't always go through the same adapter so that is why it connects.
Sorry that's above me. I know she has put the correct settings in her router.
Where would she find the dns servers on her pc.?
Its a Windows error Lona nothing to do with the router and seems to be caused by a variety of reasons. Solutions are varied,some not very successful or free

If she doesn't have it already updating to IE8 may fix it.
She'll need to connect via wireless (you said this is the only connection that is working) and go to http://www.microsoft.com/ie
She viewed all the solutions and also installed ie8 but still cannot make an ethernet connection.
If she runs a search of her machine can she find ieframe.dll?
Check, in Windows, that the wired network adapter is set to Obtain an IP address automatically and Obtain DNS server address automatically. See guide here http://www.home-network-help.com/set-ip.html.

I was looking for that in vista. Found it now and will pass on this information to my neice. What I don't understand is the fact that she can connect via wireless but not ethernet.

Because Wireless connects through aslightly different adapter, the ethernet one connects directly to the adpater. :fingers: :thumb:
