Hi I have recently been unable to connect to ebay.co.uk and also betfair.com with my old 2700. Ater trying many things I eventually switched to a Speedtouch router and the problems were solved - it was also fine with a Safecom router. Thinking the old 2700 was faulty I bought a new BT Business Hub off ebay as I like the 2700. Unfortunately this is also blocking ebay.co.uk and betfair.com.
It seems there is something about these websites that the 2700 doesn't like. I'm sure there must be a setting I can alter somewhere to stop it blocking these sites but I don't know what it is. Can anyone help

My V6 2700 is at the factory defaults + the settings on Tripod (http://bt2700hgv.tripod.com/ir1002700HGV.htm#New) it connects to ebay with no problems. Have you tried restored one of the routers back to the factory defaults, to see if it cures the problem?
I am wary of restoring my old 2700 - it is one of the AT&T American ones and I have not kept the passwords. I will try it but is there anything else in the 2700 that might be blocking these websites? Other routers are fine it's just the 2700s that are having problems.

can you ping and tracert these sites while using the 2700 ?
No I can't. It's really weird. This only started recently and was fine before. Other things don't work either - logging onto hotmail, browsing Amazon.co.uk. But fine with other routers.
I suspect my ISP may be playing a part in this. It's Pipex ::)
It's still Pipex with the other routers though, isn't it? :dunno:

The only changeable thing I can think of is the DNS entries, check each make of router is set to use the same DNS server and retest, also you could try adding the affected sites into the PC's HOST file
If the DNS checks don't show anything then check the MTU settings. I've seen problems with some sites with large MTU settings, and the 2700 defaults to 1500. You can check ( and change ) it on a v5 2700 here http://home/xslt?PAGE=B05.
I've not got a v6 so can't give the link but I'm sure Alan will advise.

Ah it was the MTU setting on my laptop! Thanks to everyone for the help. It was at 1500 so I changed it to 1458 for the wireless interface and problems solved. I can now use my AT&T 2700 with the increased wireless power ;)
Good job the new BT Business Hub I bought was only peanuts from ebay - anyway I now have a spare. ;)
Still not sure why this was an issue with the 2700s but not with the 2 other routers I tried but no matter at least it works. :thumb:
Thanks again :)
QuoteStill not sure why this was an issue with the 2700s but not with the 2 other routers
Possibly because the MTU was set lower on the other routers.
The MTU stayed at 1500 on the 2700 - I changed the MTU to 1458 on the wireless adapter on my laptop running Ubuntu and that made the difference. The MTU is still 1500 on the 2700.
Yes, exactly. If the other routers had MTU's set less than 1500 then they would automatically be fragmenting the packets into smaller ones whereas the 2700 with an MTU of 1500 would allow the larger packets to be transmitted unbroken. By setting your adapter MTU on the laptop it's now incapable of sending packets >1458 and hence it works even with the 2700.
