Title: Weird prob with Java
Post by: Tanzanite on Apr 03, 2007, 12:23:08
If anyone can solve this for me, I shall kiss your feet

For about 2 days I was playing games at www.playandwin.co.uk everything was fine. Then on Sunday, I went and had dinner and afterwards went back to playing, the games suddenly stopped working. Java applet failed to load.

I have reinstalled Java (latest version) about 4 times. I even tried the old MS virtual machine. I also reinstalled windows
Every other Java game works on other websites. I've asked the other players at playandwin and they don't have a problem. Weirdly I can play one game, bingo spinner but that's it.

I am stumped. Any ideas?

IE6 > Tools > Sun Java console >does that show any errors?

Clear cookies/cache/temp interenet files.

IE6 cache size too large or too small ?

Just tried all that and still no joy  :(

All I can think of is my ISP is suddenly blocking a port or there's something wrong with the scripts on the site but surely then no one coud play and there's people playing so can't be that.

Tears hair out.

Thought I'd update. It was actually a prob with the site and seems to be ok now, some problems occassionaly but they don't last long. Can't believe I wore myself out for a week thinking it was something to do with me. Still, it was a learning experience

Thanks for the update, Eve. It's always nice to resolve things, but frustrating when you find that you've been banging you head against the wall for no good reason. :(

I always use to top of my head, Eve, it's harder! :)

But then you end up with dents in the wall!

Not really, Lance, I choose a wall that exactly matches the hardness of my head, thus producing a state of painful equilibrium. :)
