Well my usual stable 6-6.9meg connection has hit the ground............literally
(http://www.speedtest.net/result/1397682942.png) (http://www.speedtest.net)
Coupled with the dramatic speed loss is massive latency. It was fine yesterday 6.2meg no problems.
My friend who is also with Idnet also reports similar results, my sister however is unafected. She is using a different ISP though. We are all connected to the same exchange.
I've not changed any equipment, settings etc..Things I've tried, rebooting router, power down router for 2+ hours but to no avail.
Stats as follows
Down Up
Connection Speed 8128 kbps 448 kbps
Line Attenuation 21.0 db 10.5 db
Noise Margin 9.8 db 22.0 db
Any ideas? Should I be contacting Idnet?
I think you should, although I think they'll have to check the exchange status with BT, with regard your sister on the same exchange she could well be on a different virtual path.
Would a BT Speedtest be of any use?
Just done one, a little improvement.
Guess I'll keep checking it over the next couple of days. :fingers:
It does look like classic VP congestion, send the test through to support.
Things seem alot better today, just ran another BT speedtest and throughput is up to 5.8 meg so I'll just keep and eye on it.
Interestingly at 2am this morning I hit 6.96meg, I wish it was like that all the time.
Thanks again guys. :)
90% of the time my Speedtest are about 1.80Mb and not 6.8Mb which it normally is.
I was hoping it would sort it self out but it hasn't. I'll need to call them as I used to brag about IDNet but i can't at the mo :-(
A BT Speedtest or Speedtest.net?
speedtest.net Not the most reliable but it is a bit odd that its only just saying something different.
It took me 3hr 30mins to download OSX lion off the Mac app store :-( @3.7gb
You will need to provide support with BT speedtests. :)
Yeah i think i may need to!
