But is it a real 10% discount, or a "Homebase" pretend one?

Or compare the price to elsewhere.

Best ask Comet

Which is exactly what my wife had to do yesterday after my mother-in-law bought a washing machine from Comet the previous day. She was questioning why the bill for an advertised £179 washing machine came to well over £300 and she's still trying to unravel all the answers.

Surprise added warranty? Slightly different model?

Rather more complex than that... the store advertised price is only available for purchases made on-line along with the free delivery and the free removal of the old machine which is only available with free delivery i.e. no free delivery so no free removal. Plus a two year extended warranty was miss-sold as the first two years are already covered by the manufacturer.

But then again it's Comet so I wouldn't expect anything less ::)

Wait a second, the store advertised price was online only? Do we have a "string em up" smiley?

Apparently it was 'clearly marked' as such. Anyway it's been handed on to another relative to deal with who lives in the area. As he's a barrister I would imagine they will be made to see their mistake ;)
