hi im listening to the dial tone and my snr drops from 13.9 to 12.7 then when i hang up it rises again this is with a brand new filter 29th jun from bt http://www.shop.bt.com/products/billion-uk-adsl-micro-filter-7RKR.html?q=filter&src=16 is this normal??
I would say it's not normal but also it's not necessarily the filter at fault. Ideally I would recommend the use of adslnation filters or faceplates as they do seem to have a record of high performance - http://www.adslnation.com/products/xf-1e.php. I would see if the same happens via the test socket and also with a different filter. In the ideal world the snr should remain stable,unaffected by phone usage.
same thing with test socket 14.6 to 13.0 and with my dlink filter 14.2 to 12.7
also my old bt phone makes it go from 14.2 to 12.1

Is that a different phone from your first post? If so my guess is that the issue lies with your line externally. But also I think that with only a relatively small drop it may well be difficult to get an engineer to look at the line.
yes its a previously rented bt phone first ones a Panasonic phone and im wondering if this snr reduction is somehow related to my repeated disconnects and noise on my line that sounds like there a storm outside
If there is audible noise on the line, report it to your line provider.
question does anyone know what would causes noise on a phone line and disconnects on weekdays especially thurs-frid but not weekends??
Are you near or does your line pass any industrial estates or heavy industry which only operate during the week businesses like this might be causing noise on you line?
im not sure were the line goes but in the direction of the exchange there;s only a train line there used to be a industrial estate but that got bulldozed and turned into a supermarket
It could be the trains - another member on here used to have that issue. Not sure why it would be more on a Thursday or Friday but I expect there is a reduced timetable for a Sat and Sun.
its the trains its 1:55am last train arrived at 10pm and its friday so noise is back as usual
