Title: EE 4G "too expensive" for mobile users
Post by: Simon on Apr 06, 2013, 11:50:07
Mobile customers are being scared away from 4G contracts by inflated prices and tight download caps, a survey from uSwitch has found.

The study found that 72% of consumers claim to know what 4G is, compared to only 47% of people in October 2012.

Yet, despite the greater awareness, customers are being scared away by high costs and limited data caps. Thirty eight per cent of those who said they wouldn't switch to EE's 4G network said they thought it would be beyond their budget.

EE's lowest-cost deal is currently a SIM-only, two-year contract. For £31 per month, customers receive 500MB of data coupled with unlimited call minutes and texts. EE is currently the only 4G network in the UK.

Almost 70% of respondents were concerned about hitting their data limit, realising that increased speeds would inevitably mean breaching their download cap sooner.

I think a few of the other networks say they wont charge extra for 4G which is coming this summer. Saying that I still have not got 3G here on O2...Also like 3G I bet the first few batches of handsets will eat battery life like 3G ones did at the start. Looking at the prices of new contracts I not moving from my simplicity, no matter how many calls I get telling me I should from cold callers

Another report from the "department of the bleeding obvious". Given that I'm currently paying T-Mobile £12/mo for 300 mins, 300 texts and 3GB of data (a legacy contract, renewed, with discount), why on earth should I switch?

Yes, I'm also on a 'legacy' contract with O2 - 1200 mins, 1200 texts + unlimited data = £20 per month.

The customers got wise to the scams?  :rofl3: :rofls: :pmsl: :lmao:
I feel no pain for the mobile providers. :D

No data (never renewed that part/bolt on), but mine is £10 a month, so keeping it. :P
