Title: BT to Launch Install your own fibre!
Post by: mk1 on Apr 30, 2013, 21:09:11
So BT according to PC-pro are to cut the need to have an engineer install fiber at the property.

If official will Idnet pass on this cost reduction to new fiber installs? ???

I would opt for the self-install if only to avoid a BT engineer screwing up my wiring.
IDNet don't hold you to a contract so they would be unable to recoup the costs over a period of time.  What is to stop someone signing up to IDNet for self install fibre then switching to Sky just one month later?

Actually, for Fibre, I believe it's a 12 month contract with IDNet, probably for that very reason.  :)

Oh right.  I can't say I'm interested because having used it at my son's in London, I don't see it any faster for browsing.  Obviously downloading was far quicker.  I think he gets 30Mb/s.

With you on that, Clive.  For what I use the Internet for, I couldn't justify the additional costs involved for Fibre.
