A cabinet! Yey!
For the first time, BT (Openreach) has got things done, and quick. Wow. So, a possibility for fibre now. :D
Many congratulations Ben! Especially after watching last night's edition of Watchdog. :o
You have the cabinet, has it been commissioned and are you connected to the original cabinet next to it?
Thanks Clive.
No idea Glenn. If I'm physically connected yet or not. Had a drop out earlier so might be. Not sure if it's a fibre cab, as it seems too small (in reality it's not, but no idea if it's a different setup for next to exchange systems).
The engineer said "it's for super fast fibre" and not "it's just a repair/change/upgrade".
So if it's not for fibre (I only asked if it was for the new estate, so he had no reason to lie or be on the defensive), it will just be a normal cab, but a step in the right direction.
You won't be connected to it until you go in to a fibre service, assuming that the telephone cabinet next to it is the one you are connected to.
Your in Holbeach Ben?

Maybe wrong but I also thought that you mentioned previously an Exchange Only Line which is more work involved as the network has to be reconfigured to get your line to pass through a cabinet but hopefully this is progress.
Yep, no idea if those maps apply to me, the town already got Fibre and the majority of it's cabinets upgraded. I'll have a nose around the cab when I get a chance. (And check if my line stats are different ;) ).
Oh dear:
ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 6848 kbps 992 kbps
Line Attenuation 3.5 db 4.0 db
Noise Margin 11.5 db 12 db
I might have to see if it's the router on the way out.

You might ask iDNet to reset your line.. the SNR margin should be around 6dB on the downstream side.
You can easily see if your cabinet has been enabled, just go to the IDNet website and see if you are able to get the service on the "Check Availability" page.

If it only tells you that ADSL is available, you'll have to be patient... :bawl:
Sadly it will not tell you if it is coming "soon" (with an expected date) you either have it or you don't.
